PROJECT SCOPE
It always feels rewarding to help a non-profit show off its incredible work. Pilot Light Chefs works to improve the health of Chicago school children through food education. Initially, they wanted a new website that made it easier for people to learn about their mission, see their impact and contribute to their cause. Secondarily, Pilot Light wanted to greatly expand its reach to educators (be sure to scroll below to see the latest updates!) We had so much fun collaborating with this passionate group for their site build, utilizing bright colors and employing the wonderful photography from their events to tell their story visually.
SERVICES
Web
Three years after launching this overall site, Pilot Light Chefs came back to us desiring an updated extranet site for their Food Education Center with improved functionality in order to make their lesson plans and advocacy projects more accessible for their users. We accomplished this by creating a filter feature on the Lesson Plan Library page that allows users to refine their search by selecting which Food Education Standard, Grade Level, and Subject, they would like to explore. Because teachers may be looking for lessons that can be taught to multiple grade levels or satisfy a wide array of criteria, we ensured that users could select as many categories as needed in order to find the best lesson plan for their classroom. Additionally, we added a search function at the top right corner of the Food Education Site, so users could find all relevant material to the specific topic that they are discussing in class. We are thrilled that we had the opportunity to help Pilot Light Chefs further their mission of integrating food education into classrooms all over the Midwest.
